When I became a mama, I knew that when my kids became school age, I wanted to homeschool them, and my husband agreed. The thought of having to share them with people I didn’t know, children I didn’t know, was enough for me to want them home with me. Home with me meant we knew what they were going to be taught, we knew that they’d be safe, and we knew that God would be at the center of it.
”What if they’re not socialized?”
Although I am so new to homeschooling with my oldest daughter being 5 this year, this was the question that has come up the most. It seems it is the most popular thing to say for people who haven’t chosen to homeschool. While we choose homeschool, and are home more often than not, we plan for our kids to attend co-ops where they will be able to interact with other homeschoolers. But, quite honestly I’m not worried if they’ll be “socialized” or not. We focus on being respectful, responsible, kind and humble. Instead of worrying about if they will be social butterflies or not. Which will in turn, echo into their daily life and affect how they treat others.
Faith-based Homeschooling
The main reason we chose homeschool for our children, is so that we can be sure they are taught about Jesus, and His unending love for them. In today’s school system, that simply isn’t an option. School systems are more worried about academics and achieving, over the people that they are stewarding. While private schools may have the option of including Jesus into their curriculum, we still feel strongly that for our kids, home is best.
Real-life Homeschooling
Living on our homestead, allows so many learning opportunities for our children and I do not take that for granted. This is something they cannot learn anywhere else. On any given day they will see milking cows, a cow calving, chicks hatching, and so much more.
Vision for Homeschooling

My vision for our children and our homeschooling journey, is to create God – fearing, kind, responsible and capable adults. Creating an atmosphere that encourages learning, but does not force it. Leaning into topics they’re interested and passionate about. When the world says “do more, be more” we’re slowing down, and focusing on what matters.
I am at the very beginning of our homeschool journey with our kids, and I plan to share/update on blog posts along our journey. Overall, you will know your children best, and will choose what option of schooling is best for them. For us, homeschool seems like a no- brainer. I am so excited, and hopeful of what’s to come.
